Re: [beta] Advertisement Management Extension

Post by MarkDHamill »

I got the extension working by basically removing the rows from the ext and modules tables, clearing the cache and doing it again.

Since I had to add the module manually, it sounds like the migrator program isn't programmed to do it, so this code should be added.

This extension should have the support of the official team because this extension is fundamental for each and every forum.. :P

I installed this but I cannot get it to show up on the Extensions tab in the ACP. I just installed 3.1.6, but I'm not using the MobiPHPbb theme. Is that the problem?

Ok, well it still is not working. I have it in the ext folder:

ext/bb3mobi/ads-master but it won't show up. Any ideas?

Got it. phpbb doesn't like the - in the folder name. When I downloaded from Github, it called the folder ads-master by default. Removed the -master and it worked.

Hello,
I installed, used french translation from Mod and settings only one position (5). It seems to work. But link to
http://www.lithiumstudios.org/ is not good anymore.
Do I have to replace it with ...? Or, just remove it?

I have a quick & dirty translation to German (de) but could not upload it on Github. I will be in German phpbb.de's pastebin for one month now, maybe anyone wants to upload it to Github?

Perhaps it would be best to remove the word "ads" within the folder directory and also other files (example ads.css) -- since they will all be blocked by Adblock Plus or other similar plugins for browsers.

Right now, I don't have any ads running, but I did add on the footer the site's copyright info, and Adblock Plus is blocking the ads.css file. :(

Plus in the past, I've used this tool to advertise upcoming events (with banners) to my members. So not all will be ads, so perhaps allow Adblock Plus to block those that can detect as real ads (like Google Adsense, or others), but not the folder directories or files names, since it will block them before even giving them a fair chance.
This is a very good point. :)

As well as the above, I found a small issue.

I have placed ads in the top right of my forum and below the footer. And selected chosen forums for them to display, but the ads also show on the 'Online list'. This isn't good for google ads as the googlebot can't see that page.

EDIT: Weirdly, it only seems to show the ads if I click 'Display guests'. Obviously it shouldn't show at all.

EDIT: Well that's even weirder, they aren't showing now and I haven't done anything! Was I just seeing things or what? :?
