There is a fix to the migration sql error.
Please use the updated code from github.

Also - added a simple screenshot of the actual 'like' button (hand?) as it will appear on your board
when you install the extension.

I would like to make 2 suggestions

1) Have the "Like" link and graphic appear under the content (post), rather than under the user profile since we are "liking" the post, rather than the poster. Does that make sense?

2) Clicking the "Like" button a second time will remove your like, in case you clicked by accident...

That is typically in line with how things work on Facebook.

Absolutely agree with both suggestions of @elawrenc.

Dear Lygav,

I also have an issue with the Ajax Error (see picture below).
Image

I'm not familiar with git so I first 'cloned' the https-link onto my harddisk and afterwards uploaded the folder to my /ext-folder on the server of my hosting company.
When activating the extension in ACP I don't experience any problems. Only after pushing the like-button the Ajax Error-message pops up.
(phpbb 3.1.6)

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Hello Elekid,

Can you open the browser developer tools (via F12) and check the "console" tab for any errors?

Hi Lygav,
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)
http://www.[nameremoved].com/app.php/likepost/8?sid=...
Probably I have an issue with the install on the server of my web hosting company. As mentioned before I first created a local clone on my HDD which I afterwards uploaded (ftp) to the /ext/-folder of my forum. I don't know if this is the correct procedure since you mention in your OP to clone it directly on the server.

Let me know if you need more information from my side.

Cheers

Edit: I'm working with the PS4 theme (iso Prosilver) but I guess this has nothing to do with the error?
Edit2: Could it have something to do with the fact that my website isn't published yet?

Hello guys,

The Ajax 404 error might have to do with your server configuration.
There is a common issue with some phpBB installations where Ajax extensions don't work.
Seems to do something with server url-rewriting.
Can you please check if you have url-rewriting enabled on the server?

Hi,

I know your boards may not be public yet, but you can also PM me (
even better with a test account with admin permissions), that way i'm sure we could solve this
quickly.

Agree and to add one more to the list.... Add notifications
so the user knows who liked their post.

This extension is like the SocialSharing, but only provides Facebook functionality. viewtopic.php?f=456&t=2341026

What about the other social media sites?
Are there any plans to support other social media websites like Google Plus, Linkedin, Odnoklassniki, Pinterest, Redidit, Tumbler, Twitter or VK?

Your link points to the FancyBox extension, not the Social Sharing extension.

This extension has nothing to do with social sharing at all. It's simply a "Like" button for PHPBB posts. It doesn't share the post to Facebook or any other social media.

Thank you all for the suggestions, some of the things I even already tried (ex. to put the like button under the post) and it didn't work out.
All your suggestions are great and will be considered according to the limited time i have :-)

A little update regarding the 'Ajax not found' error:
stlvargas provided me an access to his forum, and i found the problem.
It looks something to do with how PHPBB makes Ajax requests.
I'm looking into finding a solution.

Hi Lygav,
Thanks for the update!
I was struggling some 'blank ACP screens' past days and decided to re-install the phpbb from scratch. Hence the reason of my late reply.
Looking forward to your solution.

I'm with the other posters that a 'like-button' in the user-field can lead to some confusion (liking the user versus liking the post). Is there a possibility to add an extra button next to the 'quote the user'/'report this post'-buttons or is this a complex thing too? (see link below)
Little bit similar to this: http://www.mildredbrennan.com/blog/?p=118

For a noob like me these modifications are too complex to do manually; it would be nice to see this as an extension.

Cheers!
