Custom Message

Post by Nerox9 » Fri Jan 19, 2018 6:00 pm

Hello!

My question is: Is it possible to change the default 'message' to custom.

Example: I deactivated account 'X'. When 'X' tries to login he see this message: "You'r username is inactive.'' , but I change that message to ''You'r account is disabled'' for example.

I hope you understand :/

It helps to post the exact wording.

I think you're after this

Code: Select all

'ACTIVE_ERROR'	=> 'The specified username is currently inactive. If you have problems activating your account, please contact a board administrator.',
That line is in language/en/common.php

If you're translating, it'll be in language/yourlanguage/common.php

That would indicate that you have not edited it correctly - how did you edit it? What did you use to edit it? Did you save it without BOM?

How did I edit: I just replaced the

Code: Select all

The specified username is currently inactive. If you have problems activating your account, please contact a board administrator.
with

Code: Select all

You'r account has been disabled. For further informations please contact email@email.com
, I downloaded the common.php file and edited it with notepad, and replaced the edited common.php file with the real one.
I don't know what is BOM.

You need to set your editor to save without BOM.

I believe that Notepad does not allow this so you will need another editor such as Notepad+

two problems with that.

1. never open any phpbb file in notepad. use editpad or notepad++
regular notepad adds certain bits of code that you can not see that cause this problem

also, you should not use a contraction in any of the language files.

You'r is wrong to begin with, it should be Your

and, if you did need to use an apostrophe you have to escape it .

for instance; can't would need to be like this: can\'t

EDIT: Lumpy just beat me to it :)

You cannot use an apostrophe like that.

You'r account
It will close the line early and error on the remaining text. Apostrophe's have to be followed by a backslash.

However, the correct English for that wording is just
