Update routine produces error

Post by Talk19Zehn » Tue Jun 28, 2016 9:59 am

Hello, the update routine generates this error:
The installer detected a timeout
The installer has detected a timeout, you may try to refresh the page, Which may lead to data corruption. We suggest you did Either increase your timeout settings or try to use the CLI.
Previous version:
phpBB 3.2.0-b2, Board Style: prosilver and no other styles are installed. No extension are installed.

My update package: phpBB-3.2.0-b2_to_3.2.0-RC1.zip
  • Directories docs and vendor have been completely replaced!
My php version: 7.0.7 --> So it´s smaller as 7.1

What am I doing wrong? I find no solution .... :?

Thanks for any help and regards.

Hi,

did you perform the update on a Windows Server (xampp)?

And you got the error while updating the database? Maybe the server is too slow, MySQL is quite slow on windows.

Do you have this problem, too, when you use the CLI? Did you increase the timeout in seconds?

Regards

The timeout also occurs if trying to use FTP instead of zip and download. To be able to restart from square one you need to delete the file (install_something.php can't recall right now) from with the store directory of the forum.

why are you doing an auto update from beta versions? you should be simply replacing all of the old files with new ones except for the config.php file and running the database_update file.

Robert - there is no database_update.php file in 3.2 as the whole of install/update routine has been reworked

The new routine works like here: https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/pull/431 ... be3b6cR277 described (sry, this is not too good readable, but the PR is not merged yet, it will be included in the INSTALL.html in 3.2.0-RC2).

ah, didn't notice that since I have not updated any boards yet.
so, it seems that you just replace the files and access the install folder and choose update and it will do the database update for you.

good stuff.

Where i can find a list of feature for 3.2 ?
How is this better ?

Has a font icons integration ?
Has a new text editor, forgeting ugly bbcode tags ?
Has a new automatic update system , click to update from your servers ?
Or how is this better then 3.1 ?
