Self-update

Post by cronos42 »

Will there in the near future be a version of phpBB that can update itself like Wordpress does?

And your definition of "near" is...?
  • "The problem is probably not my English but you do not want to understand correctly. ... We will not come anybody anyway, nevertheless, it's best to shit this." Affin, 2018-11-20
  • "But this shit is not here for you. You can follow with your. Maybe the question, instead, was for you, who know, so you shoved us how you are." axe70, 2020-10-10
  • "My reaction is not to everyone, especially to you." Raptiye, 2021-02-28

And how does Wordpress do it?

Not a chance in hell! We are lucky to see a single update every 7-9 months or so (i'm not having a go, just stating a fact) these days.

If this is ever implemented (I don't want or need it), it's likely going to be 3-4 years down the line.

In any case it's a feature request which is beyond the scope of this forum. Area51 would be the best place to ask.

How would I find that? Do I search for existing RFCs?
