Update from 3.2.0 to 3.2.1

Post by kamaleon »

Hello,

To update from 3.2.0 to 3.2.1 I need to upload the new automatic update package and unzip then generate new files and upload them again?

Is that correct uploading files 2 times?

Thanks

The second files are the modifications made from old and new files.
So 2 times uploading is correct.
Sorry! My English is bat ;) !!!

In this instance you can use the Automatic Update packages. This compares your files to the new ones and tries to merge them and allows you to see how they will affect the resulting code.

Download the package that applies to your version from this page.

Download and decompress the zip file.
Inside you will find an install folder which needs to be uploaded to your forum folder on the server.
Go to your Administration Control Panel and choose the System tab.
Follow the on screen prompts which will run the database update script and then check the files to find any differences.

You will now be given a list of files which have a change.
You can select an option to see the differences for yourself and accept the merged file, reject the merge and accept the new file only or reject the merge and keep your original file. Typically you will choose to merge.

Once you have decided on which files to use you will have two options at the bottom of the screen on what to do next.

You can choose to connect via FTP and have the files uploaded automatically or you can choose to download them in a separate file and then upload them yourself.
Either way, you need to end up with all the changed files on the server.

Connect via FTP to the server and open the /cache folder. Delete all the files in it except for index.html and .htaccess.
Delete the install folder from the server.
You are now up to date.

I would like to update forum from 3.2 to 3.2.1, how to do this correctly? Can I load all content from package except config.php file? That's how I updated 3.1. When comes updates, but when I load content today from package was showing some bugs, and I restore previously files. If I need to remove some content of some folder?

@stevemaury as I said before in the link you provide, there is no place where it says to upload a second time the files modified

Using FTP, delete the /vendor and /cache folders from the board's root folder on the host.
I need to completely remove vendor and cache folder from server? And just upload content from 3.2.1 package without file config.php and without images, store, files folders, right?

Well when doing the update, the installer gave me new or modified files and I was told to upload them.

Is that wrong?

The method described here is for updating 3.2.x boards with no core code changes
