a "more automatic" automatic update?

Post by davecotter » Thu Sep 21, 2017 4:12 pm

in wordpress, i can login as admin, and PRESS A BUTTON to update.
with phpbb, there are half a dozen manual steps.
why?
can we please work toward the "press a button" method?

This is a planned feature for phpBB 3.3.

In my personal opinion this is all very well but my concern with such methods is you’ll have more and more users (admin who are supposed to know what’s going on don’t forget) who are only button clickers and have no knowledge of how things work. When something goes peculiar for whatever reason you’ll get “I dunno, I clicked the button”. And, FWIW, WP one click updates don’t always go to plan.

It works seemlessly though on NAS web servers. It well just auto update phpBB without you even clicking something if you choose the auto-update feature.
