moving forum to another folder

Post by pathfinderenterprises » Mon Oct 30, 2017 10:11 am

I want to move my forum from one folder to another on my server. I thought all I would need to do was copy all the forum files into the new folder and use my C Panel to redirect to the new folder.

However, all i get when aiming at the new folder is a white screen. (the old folder is still working perfectly).

I must be missing something so simple i can't see it.

Any ideas?
Keith

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

If all you want to do is change the directory on the same host (e.g. from myhost/phpbb3 to myhost/forum) then do this:

- ACP --> Server Settings --> Script Path --> Change to new directory
- With a FTP program rename the directory to the new name.

I may be wrong, but i don't think that will work, because i have copied all my forum files to the new folder and i want to be able to delete them from the old folder when i can get the new set up working.

Force server URL settings: is currently set to NO
and
Script path: is set to a folder that existed on my old host (I moved to my current host a couple of years ago)

Always keep a backup in case something happens.

Just move all the files to the new folder after changing the setting I told you to.

Should work and if not, you have a backup.

No, I'm afraid it didn't work.

When i point my browser at the new folder, I still get the white screen :(

If i point my browser to my old folder, everything works just fine.

The files in each folder are identical.

Edit
I've just moved the files again and everything seems to be working as it should do :D

Many thanks
Keith
