The tables are inter-connected. Post text is stored in the posts table which is linked to the users table, the topics table, the forum table...etc.

Hi .. I understand the relational nature of SQL ... though a bit rusty but the posts table refers to the post in the form of a Blob reference ... ? I am trying to recover data from a Db that has lost many of its tables, thus I need to access tables directly.
I have rebuilt the Db using default/empty tables to replace the missing ones to get the forum to work , but ofcourse many of the relational connections are not in place.
I have created a current test post having logged in and it displays within the forum corectly ... so I know it is working and storing the data/post ... my problem is finding that 'post message' directly in the Db. Where are the post 'blobs' stored?

posts table, post_text field, but AFAIK, 3.2.x stores the post_test as longtext.

ok so the post I created earlier shows the ' [BLOB - 13.1 KiB] ' in the post_text column.
My question still remains ... where is the content of [BLOB - 13.1 KiB] ?

Export the data from the posts table.

Or:

Code: Select all

SELECT CONVERT(post_text USING utf8) FROM phpbb_posts
