Doubt about Avatar Group

Post by Tarantino »

Hi guys, in phpBB 3.0.x there was an bug issue on group avatars.

Let say one group, default or custom, has 1000 users ( it happens whatever is the quantity).
And let's say that almost all members (80%) has an avatar.
Then let say we wanted to add a group avatar, so all users without an avatar will have the group avatar instead.
The problem on 3.0 is that all users included the ones that had their own avatar uploaded or choosed in gallery etc would have their avatar replaced/overwrite by the avatar group.

This is what happened on 3.0

So my doubt is, those this problem still happens on 3.2.1?

Thks!

Just tested it and it seems OK, just as long as it is the user's default group

Perfect. Thanks! It makes sense to show only the avatar of the default group of that user, since he could be in many.

Thanks for confirmation!

I found a bug on this.

If I add an avatar to the registered users. And let say that one user already have an avatar. Then the avatar group will not show on him (all good for now), then let say that user deletes his avatar. Then he stays without any avatar, and therefor it should appear the avatar of his default group, right? But it doesn't appear. If I go to ACP and send again the same avatar to the group then he gain that avatar. But phpBB should show after he deletes his avatar the group avatar of his default group.

So I guess this is a bug. Or am I wrong?

The best idea is report it to the bug tracker.

I was waiting for a confirmation, that it was a bug so I could report. I don't like to report nonsense.

Are you confirming that this is a bug? :D

No but the folks at the bug tracker will tell you. The point is, if you think it’s a bug, report it.

When I did a quick test and deleted a user's avatar it picked up the group avatar, no problem.

Strange. I test with gallery, upload and gravatar. And after I delete it, it doesn't grab the avatar. I'm testing with the founder account and add the avatar to the admin group (founder default group).

EDIT: Tried with normal registered group and same thing.
