Turning On Verification Emails

Post by Selective » Sat Dec 16, 2017 6:17 pm

I'm setting up a new forum, and I can't figure out where the option is to turn on email verification.

Where did the script writers hide it?

Never mind, I found it! I kept over looking it because it is worded funny.

Here is how to get to it.

ACP > General > User registration settings > Account activation: > By user (email verification)

OK, I just got my email verifications working. Ran some tests, and people can now create accounts after clicking the link they get in their verification emails upon signup.

Go to: ACP > General > Email settings

General settings
Enabled

your-forum-name@your-domain-name.com
your-forum-name
your-forum-name@your-domain-name.com

yes

SMTP settings

----------------------
Then go to your cPanel and create an email for the email you entered above.
Then go to another part of your cPanel and create a forward for that email address, so it goes to your email address.

----------------------
Then go back to ACP > General > Email settings

and click the (send a test email) button. It should go to the email you listed above, which should be forwarded to your email address.
Once that is confirmed, use an alternate email address to test registration, and it should work.

If it doesn't work after this, then you have a more complicated problem.
