Update old forum after years

Hello all,
I am turning up my old forum which I need to update of course it is running I think onversion 3.0.12 or something like that. My host of the DB went from Mysql 4 to mysql 5 in meantime but it is still the same host.

When I try to revive the forum so that I can update and see the status I am getting this:

Code: Select all

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

mysql_connect function does not exist, is mysql extension installed? []

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.
What I tried:
1) Cleaned up Cache folder
2) Re-check the DB setting - OK I can get there using my host phpmyadmin
3) I tried localhost and 127.0.0.1

What should I do? Should I set in the phpbb files somewhere that I am using mysql5 now?

Thank you all for help.

Sorry to post it here but 3.0.x forum support is locked and I will update to 3.2.x later on :)

Try changing the db type in your config.php file to mysqli then delete everything fron the cache folder except .htaccess and index.htm

Ok working now. Should I leave it there for update? Will it update my mysql DB?

You need to upgrade. see https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... /upgrade3/
BUT: make sure you have a backup before changing anything to the database and upgrading. (That's just in case - if you follow the steps correctly all should go well).
