Post by PaulusB » Wed Jan 17, 2018 9:32 am

URL forum: https://www.volkswagen-forum.nl
Extensions on my forum:

Advanced BBCode Box 3.1.4
Feed post bot 1.0.1
Google Analytics 1.0.3

Stop Forum Spam 1.1.8
Tapatalk Plugin for phpBB 3.1/3.2 2.0.5
VigLink 1.0.2
Style: Flatboots
phpBB version: 3.2.2

After the update from 3.2.1 to 3.2.2 i'm having problems with uploading JPG files.

If i upload a large jpg 4.7MB file i get the following error. The photo is made with a new android 7.0 phone.
error It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Make sure the URL you entered is correct.
If i upload a smaller jpg file 200kb i get no error.

I have the same message on both templates. The upload max size on the forum is 5MB in the php ini 1024mb if set the upload in the forum to 0 mb the message is also there.

If a disable the bbcode box the message is also there. I also replaced al the phpbb root files with fresh ones but the message is also there.

Running on PHP Version 7.1.13

Does anybody knows how to solve this problem.

phpBB analyzes JPEG files only by looking at its first 124.576 bytes, and the segment holding the dimension information in your file would need to parse/seek 1.032.406 bytes. I have no clue why phpBB has still not understood how JPEG files can look like and dimension information can still be quite at the end of a file.

No, this "bug" persisted in 3.2.1 and 3.2.0 already. What you refer to had (a) different culprit(s).

You can fix it yourself by opening /vendor/marc1706/fast-image-size/lib/Type/TypeJpeg.php and finding:

Code: Select all

	const JPEG_MAX_HEADER_SIZE = 124576;
and changing it to a size you feel comfortable with (i.e 10* 1024* 1024 for scanning up to 10 MiB).

Like so?

Unfortunately, I also encountering with this kind of error for some jpeg images (created by Meizu mobile). It is reproducible on my 3.2.5, and as I can see it is also reproducible on this forum as well (I can't upload the image into this topic).

The solution with editing TypeJpeg.php file works fine, but I'm not sure that modifying core files is good approach.

So, does anybody can say when the issue will be fixed officially, in which phpBB release?

P.S. You can download problematic picture from this location: https://scooterclub.by/tmp/P90505-140230.jpg
