I have deleted production folder inside the cache dir - which get re-created every time I kick of the update
Try to delete installer folder in the cache
And try to delete the io-lock file in the store folder.
Sorry! My English is bat ;) !!!

are you sure you have the correct download from here? the full package and not the auto update package.

are you sure that you replaced all your old files with the new ones?

are you sure that the folder named install is from the full package ?

it should not be doing that at all if you have done all of those things.

if you have replaced all of the files with the new ones from the full package then it should not be trying to update the files at all.

you upload all new files except for the config.php file.
you go to the install folder
you choose update
you choose update again
you choose update database only
wait until it is done.

robert
Yep. That's what ive done but it break down here:

The system does NOT provide me that option - it JUMPS to updating files immediately without presenting any options.

Previously when I updated the wrong way as I explained it did present this and I selected the ftp version and DB and files upgrade.

Its like its stored these settings and thinks it does not need to ask for them again...

Yes o all of this, I double checked before I ftp'd that I had my settings to overwrite all files.

Deleted the io lock file. no change.

I did originally download the update package and ftp's the install and vendor dirs, ran the updater and it reported ONLY updating the DB - but obviously it didnt as its NOT updated.

Then I downloaded the full package, deleted the OLD install and vendor folders and uploaded the files as per the instructions on this page, ensuring it was in overwrite mode.

So I have decided to go back to the beginning, re-download the full package, follow the instructions again and ftp everything as new.

Will report shortly.

Thanks for your help so far...

So I have re-done all of that again, re-downloaded the packages, followed the instructions AND deleted the cache, installer and io lock file.

I have re-uploaded and overwritten all files.

No change to the operation, that is the system JUMPs to updating files and does not provide me an option.

any other ideas?

What is it doing this, it looks like its taking settings from somewhere...Is there a place if the DB I can manually edit so next time it looks it knows to trigger correctly?

Help appreciated.!

Yes I do. its a Perishable Press 6G blacklist...

Its been working fine so far and its on my main root directory for the wordpress.

I can disable it temporarily, but it works fine for operation - maybe not for upgrading...

Interesting

Ill try and report back.

Removed custom htaccess, deleted production folder and io lock. You can look at that file now..

Same action...jumps to update

Seems when it is updating it is placing all the files in my web root folder!

I just deleted them all ad run the updater again and its tyring to install them into my web root not my board location. :?

So I clearly need to be able to reset or restart that update process in some other way as it has taken some details I provided and hard coded them into its execution...

That is, the file location and what type of update it is being told to do...

Where in the code does this happen and how can I edit/update/reset it so I can append the location and the function needed?

I have deleted, updated, overwritten everything here and no joy so any help with respects to this question highlighted above would be appreciated.

Thanks

the only thing I can think of is the migration files in the "store" folder.

next time you try, make sure there are no migration files in that folder before you start.
and delete the io lock file from the store folder as well.
