How do I require new users' posts be moderated?

Post by craig.constantine » Sat Feb 17, 2018 1:28 pm

I have a phpbb 3.2.1 installation.

I've found information about the feature/ability to place new users into the moderation queue-- something like new users' first three posts must be approved by a moderator. But I cannot figure out how to actually configure that in the ACP.

Can someone point me to some documentation that explains the specific configuration knobs/levers to set?

admin panel
general
user registration settings
new member post limit

If you're combating spam, then 1 post is enough and a good non-searchable Q&A question on the registration page will stop 99% registering in the first place.

In my board, that value is already set to '3'.

Have you taken the newly registered users permissions off the forums by mistake?

permissions
group forum permissions
newly registered users
select the forums (might have to do groups of 5 or 6)
newly registered user access

Do you have any members in the Newly registered users group? How many users do you have?

37 board members, 33 members in "newly registered users" ... which sounds exactly right as there only a handful of people who have been posting.

oh! That's exactly what I've done wrong. I must have changed that when I created the very first forum, and then I've been copying the permissions from existing forums as I've made more... so they all had "Limited Access" as the permissions for the "Newly Registered Users" group.

Fixed! Thank you VERY MUCH!
