First Update Notice of 3.2.x

Post by Space Admiral Xarzu »

Hello Forum,

I have successfully upgraded to 3.2.x and now when I log into the ACP index, I have an update notice in a nice red block. So, in the spirit of leaving nothing to chance, what do you suggest I do now. It was not easy undoing my mod and plugin's in order to get to a spot where I could upgrade to the 3.2 realms. So I am cautious and I want to do the upgrade to 3.2.2 as best as I can. It has a been a while since I have revisited my web site. So I am guessing that probably I might have to do a couple updates, maybe to 3.2.3.

Please advise.

As with all updates to your forum you should do a backup first, this way if something does go wrong you have a backup you can revert to.

So with that said back up your forum first and then follow the backup process

3.2.3 has not been released yet (is still in development).
Should you have found a 3.2.3 anywhere claiming to be a release version. DO NOT USE IT, it's almost 100% certain a prank or something malicious!
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

You cannot have followed those instructions and gotten that message. It looks like you used the Automatic update package, or changed files, and not the FULL package, or else there would be no files to merge.

You might not believe me but I followed the directions again precisely. It still prompted me to download a group of file, upload them, and then re-update the files. After a few times doing this, I eventually go to this screen. So, now, am I good to go?

There are discrepancies here, which could take the posterity to a false path IMO.

And the discrepancies are probably due to not using the correct method of updating. Also you mentioned mods and plugins. What kind of modifications were those? Database modifications (and did you undo those before updating)?
