Post by Harrison76 »

hello,
Is there a way to set default settings for all users to receive email alerts when responding to a discussion?

Unsolicited emails are spam. Users can subscribe, or check the appropriate box when replying or posting. You could post an Announcement explaining to them how to do this. Also, depending on the number of users and the size of the forum, you could quickly run up against host-imposed email number limits.
I can stop all your spam. I can upgrade or update your Board. PM or email me. (Paid support)

thank you for your reply,
Yes, I know that the user can choose whether to subscribe or not, but you can't put the checkbox by default so that if one does not change it automatically subscribes? can always check it out if you do not want to subscribe. graces

You can use this extension to set the defaults for new users - viewtopic.php?f=456&t=2428976

I now no longer support any of my extensions but they will start to become available here

Correct, for the very reason Steve outlined in his reply

I note that Notifications in the UCP only are available for subscribed or bookmarked topics:

Code: Select all

Someone replies to a topic you have bookmarked
Someone replies to a topic to which you are subscribed
Someone quotes you in a post
Someone creates a topic in a forum to which you are subscribed
So even if you could force the Notification setting, the user would have to be subscribed or have bookmarked the topic.
