phpBB 3.2.2 group forum permission: can see forum NO SQL ERROR [ mysqli ] [0]

Post by Neuropass »

This doesn't work any longer:

viewtopic.php?p=13114641#p13114641

Fresh board, set group permission to:
group forum permission for Guests: "can see forum NO"

you get:

Code: Select all

SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

[0]

is this a bug on 3.2.2?

what do you mean its not a bug? It returns a MySQL error. Its a clean board installation, 3.2.2.
Surely not working as intended? or am I missing anything?

When do you get that error? I was just able to set that permission with no issue.

I still can't reproduce this. I was able to set the permission and then view a topic as a guest. It has to be an error on your board, not a bug in the software.

Is it a main forum or sub forum or a sub forum of a sub forum?

Why not post a link to the forum, as guests we will see the error.

It would be really helpful to provide a link to your board so we can see the issue. It's not reproducible on our end.

The error exist. I've a clean board too at 3.2.2. That means only Your first forum inside Your first category

Go to ACP - Permisions - Permission Roles - Forum Roles -> Select "Read Only Access"

I've all to No except Actions Tab where I've some at Yes:

Image

Then go to : /viewforum.php?f=2 as a guest and puff error WILL appear.

Basically, if "Can see topics" is YES and "Can read forum" is NO = Error.
But, If "Can see topics" is NO and "Can read forum" is NO = Works.

And here you've the PR that create this bug: https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/pull/4973

And to be more precise:
if (!$auth->acl_gets('f_read', 'f_list_topics', $forum_id))
{
$template->assign_vars(array(
'S_NO_READ_ACCESS' => true,
));

page_footer();
}
Solution? Easy Peazy:

If that if returns false it will bug, so we need an else statement. So After that if we add:

Code: Select all

else
{
	$template->assign_vars(array(
		'S_NO_READ_ACCESS'		=> false,
	));

	page_footer();
}
Problem solved. ;) You're welcomed. :geek:
