normally you do not have to worry about this as it happens automatically,.
however, the files,images/avatars/upload and the store folders need to be set to 777
the config.php file should be set to 666 during install and 644 after install.

but, like I said, I have not had to set this for several years on any server I have worked on.
just do the install and then check the chmod using your ftp.

Thank you so much for your help, guys!
I checked the Chmod permissions on all folders and they are already in correct value.

I think I'm just "the worrying kind" ;)

Thank you again.

Hello everybody.

I have the same problem (some little difference only), I don't think I need to create a new Topic...

My NAS where the old forum (phpBB 3.0.14) was has crashed.
While repairing, I put all files on my dev computer on Windows Seven, using wampserver and make a very hard upgrade to phpBB 3.2.2, removing lot of MODs and repairing severals GUI Bugs...
After that, I install several extensions to make the new upgraded forum work like old one.

For the moment, all is OK.
But, now I need to delete all old files from the NAS (DS1815+) an replace code (and database) with the new migrated forum.
But I'm under windows, if I copy files and folders, all will have same Chmod permission.

If I manually put all permissions like this Knowledge Base - phpBB3 Chmod Permissions, my new forum will work properly ?
Another idea is to crash database and file, make new installation. after that, all files should be OK and chmod too, so just overwrite some folders (images/, files/, store/, styles/, ext/) and replace database with migrated one. It should be work ? Better or not ?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, you should start a new topic, your situation is different than the OP’s and this topic is marked solved.
