Fatal Error after try to modify a title/description on a new forum

Post by Kenningar » Thu Apr 12, 2018 9:36 pm

Hello everyone ! I just installed the 3.2.2 package, and I am trying to modify my board.

The installation proceeded without any mistakes ... no problem on the database side, even the first members managed to register.

However, when editing / adding a new forum, I get the following error:
Fatal error: Uncaught TypeError: Argument 1 passed to s9e\TextFormatter\Configurator\TemplateNormalizations\AbstractNormalization::normalize() must be an instance of DOMElement, null given, called in /home/web13440/web/vendor/s9e/text-formatter/src/Configurator.php on line 7167 and defined in /home/web13440/web/vendor/s9e/text-formatter/src/Configurator.php:4453 Stack trace: #0 /home/web13440/web/vendor/s9e/text-formatter/src/Configurator.php(7167): s9e\TextFormatter\Configurator\TemplateNormalizations\AbstractNormalization->normalize(NULL) #1 /home/web13440/web/phpbb/textformatter/s9e/factory.php(514): s9e\TextFormatter\Configurator\TemplateNormalizer->normalizeTemplate('<blockquote><xs...') #2 /home/web13440/web/phpbb/textformatter/s9e/factory.php(273): phpbb\textformatter\s9e\factory->get_default_bbcodes(Object(s9e\TextFormatter\Configurator)) #3 /home/web13440/web/phpbb/textformatter/s9e/factory.php(382): phpbb\textformatter\s9e\factory->get_configurator() #4 /home/web13440/web/phpbb/textformatter/s9e/parser.php(47): in /home/web13440/web/vendor/s9e/text-formatter/src/Configurator.php on line 4453
Unable to save the changes made.

I specify that I have no custom BBCode, it is a "clean" installation without update. I did a search on this topic on several forums community (and here too) of PHPBB, but I can not find any solution.

This strange error doesn't have the answer as much as i know. At least i haven't seen any. First i thought it may be in-correct nginx settings, but it has happened on apache as well. But it seems, it's related to server configurations.

Re-upload the vendor and phpbb folders.

What may cause this in php.ini, something should be enabled or point to default (pass)?

Try reverting to 7.0.x as a test.

@Kenningar The biggest issue is that it's impossible to know what's going without debugging the script in place. If you could find a small way to reproduce the error it would become possible to identify it.

Try creating file named test.php at the root of your forums that contains the following code:

Code: Select all

<?php
include __DIR__ . '/vendor/autoload.php';

$configurator = new s9e\TextFormatter\Configurator;
$configurator->BBCodes->addCustom(
	'[quote author={TEXT1?} post_url={URL?} profile_url={URL?} url={URL?}]{TEXT}[/quote]',
	'<blockquote><xsl:if test="not(@author)"><xsl:attribute name="class">uncited</xsl:attribute></xsl:if><div><xsl:if test="@author"><cite><xsl:choose><xsl:when test="@url"><a href="{@url}" class="postlink"><xsl:value-of select="@author"/></a></xsl:when><xsl:when test="@profile_url"><a href="{@profile_url}"><xsl:value-of select="@author"/></a></xsl:when><xsl:otherwise><xsl:value-of select="@author"/></xsl:otherwise></xsl:choose><xsl:text> </xsl:text><xsl:value-of select="$L_WROTE"/><xsl:value-of select="$L_COLON"/><xsl:if test="@post_url"><xsl:text> </xsl:text><a href="{@post_url}" data-post-id="{@post_id}" onclick="if(document.getElementById(hash.substr(1)))href=hash">&#8593;</a></xsl:if><xsl:if test="@date"><div class="responsive-hide"><xsl:value-of select="@date"/></div></xsl:if></cite></xsl:if><xsl:apply-templates/></div></blockquote>'
);

extract($configurator->finalize());

$text = '[quote]...[/quote]';
$xml  = $parser->parse($text);
$html = $renderer->render($xml);

die("$html\n");
Then execute it normally to see if it displays any errors.

At least it fails consistently. This is going to require some local debugging; I sent you a pm about it.
