Please describe your problem. No email notifications are being sent to users who have subscribed to topics or categories.
Also, when I post a new topic I get a blank page after clicking the Submit button.

I have been in touch with the site's hosting service and they have tried to resolve the issue but were unable to do so.

Here is the last email I received from Funio support:

Hello,

I have made multiple tests on the forum. I was able to reproduce the
blank page issue, but no errors are being added to the server logs.
Regarding the email notifications, the queue.php.lock file seems to be
the problem.

I recommend you contacting the support of the forum software.

Regards,

Smells like a one-click installation problem. When you use a host provided installation, then no one here can help you, only your host knows about the files they have modified. You should use original files from here (for first setup & for update/upgrade).

This is an issue, host provided software (one-click installers and updaters) are known to cause these types of problems and we can’t fully support them as we don’t know what they did to the software.

This is down to your host, they provided the software that they altered to suit their purposes.

Can you post a screen cap of your mail settings and (important!) do you have full access to your board such as FTP, phpMyAdmin and cPanel etc?
