Maximum usage of font colour in a single post

Post by dragsamou »

Hi All

I'm using Phbb 3.2.0 on my forum. I have created a huge post that serves as a database and I use font colour as well as bold text. I update this post on a constant basis, therefore using more font colour and more bold text. It seems that now, I can't use any font colour any longer without deleting previous ones. In Post Settings the Maximum font size per post is set to 0. Is there's a way that I can use unlimited font colour and bold text on that single post without having to delete previous one, which is not an option for the purpose of that post. If you have any questions, I will gladly answer.
Thanks for helping.

A link to the post and a (user) test account would help

Ok, I’m going to have to fire up my desktop for that, give me a few minutes, in the meantime:

You can use this extension ACP Add User.

Hi Mike

When it comes to technical part, I'm a total noob on phbb, even if I use it for the last 15 years, I simply as that doesn't know how to add an extension or even have the knowledge and tools to do so.
Installation:
1 Download and unzip the current release.
2 Upload the extracted package into the ext directory of your phpBB board.
3 Navigate in the ACP to Customise -> Manage extensions.
4 Look for Add User under the Disabled Extensions list, and click its Enable link.
5 New Link will be available under the users and groups tab in the ACP

Step 1 is done. What I need to do precisely as step 2 ?

This is a bit more definitive: Installing extensions. If not I’ll create my own test account, presumably registration is available?

Hi Mike

Would it work for you to simply register and that I approve your account with the pseudo that you will mention to me here ?

I've just tried to register but there's a problem with your reCaptcha (the error says "ERROR for site owner: Invalid domain for site key" so I can't register ATM.

I know the recaptcha is a disaster, some users have mentioned that to me and it works for some and doesn't for others, then it fixed by itself also it depends of the browser being used, another thing that I have no idea of how it can be solved with a total lack of knowledge of how to proceed. I've just tried myself it doesn't work with Waterfox or Google Chrome but it works with Microsoft Edge.

You can try Knowledge Base - How to configure Q&A CAPTCHA.. Make sure the Q&A you use cannot be Googled, in other words it needs to be something unique, not mathematics type questions, possibly something about your site such as:

Q: What is the third word in the board title.
A: Librarities

etc.

Edit: I changed browser and registered it just needs authorising now. (I'd still be inclined to change the reCaptcha later if it's giving problems.

Done, I hope it will work now.

It seems there are too many characters for the post, your post contains 270322 characters and the preset limit is 60000. You can try increasing the maximum number of characters, I had to on my test board and the colouring works after the change, see here.
ACP> General> Board Configuration> Post Settings

Maximum characters per post: The number of characters allowed within a post. Set to 0 for unlimited characters.
or (preferably) split the topic up.

I have to say a 60000 character post is rather a lot, it can hit performance (it does!) and you could get user friendliness issues.

Hi Mick

Thanks for testing.
The Maximum characters per post/message: The number of characters allowed within a post/private message. Set to 0 for unlimited characters.
Is already set to Unlimited "0". So how can it be increased ?

I have counted how many font colour (red and blue) were used: more or less 826
