Another Attachment Issue

Post by lavalamp213 » Mon May 21, 2018 11:35 am

When I attach files in a post they look fine when I click submit. However, if I go to edit the post and remove or start shifting the positions of the attachments, things go haywire. I will try to show what happens with screen shots:

First I drag the files into the post and place them:
2018-05-21 01.08.58 pm.jpg
I click submit and everything looks fine:
2018-05-21 01.09.44 pm.jpg
And now this is what it looks like when I return to edit mode, notice the attachment folder seems to retain one of the 6 files.
2018-05-21 01.10.15 pm.jpg
If I remove one file from the post like this:
2018-05-21 01.11.09 pm.jpg
This happens when I click submit, note the odd looking "attachment" at the bottom of the post:
2018-05-21 01.11.38 pm.jpg
And at any point in this process, if I click Preview I always get something like this:
2018-05-21 01.28.20 pm.jpg
And if I delete that single attachment that remains in the attachments window, it deletes all the attachments.

Once problems start, the only way to clean up the post is to delete it and start over.

I am running 3.2.2 and also using the inline images in attachments ext however this happens with the ext disabled. I have also looked at that support forum and found no other example like this and I did post a topic but received no reply. But because the issue happens without the ext makes me think it isn't the problem.

Have you applied the fix from the "Known Issues" sticky at the top of this forum?

No I haven't. You mean this:

Sorry to ask, but is there some way you could kinda walk me through this? I haven't worked with the code like this before.

Would really love to get this problem fixed.

it is pretty simple.

you use ftp to access your server. you find the file listed in the instructions and download it to your computer.

you use a good text editor and open the relevant file.
you find the line of code it tells you to find.
you make the edits it tells you to make.
you save the file and upload it back to the server where you got it.
let it overwrite the one that is there.

go to your admin panel, purge the cache.
'
done.

Thanks Robert, I use Filezilla. Can you tell me how to find the file? Sorry to be such a novice, but I see the regular File Manager type file folders. Where would this code be?
