Problem: Reply with quote

Post by LuigiMdg » Fri Jun 08, 2018 10:18 am

Hello,
I have a PhpBB 3.2.1 forum and I have an Apache server with PHP 7.1.

The problem arises when me or my users go to click on "Reply citing" .. Not always, but it often happens that instead of being redirected to the text editor with the quoted message, you are returned to the category of that topic ..!

I can not find a solution, I can not even understand when exactly this problem occurs and why ..

Ideas?

A link to your board would be a start

Update..
The problem would seem to be due to the fact that sometimes clicking on Reply with quote is not redirected to the root posting.php file, but the category before the file is added ..!

For example, instead of:
pronosticiippica.it/posting.php?mode=quote&f=21&p=16202
You are redirected to:
pronosticiippica.it/staff-f21/posting.php?mode=quote&f=21&p=16202

That is a bug in your pretty-URLs extension.

Ok..
I use the extension of tas2580 (SEO urls)..
I've opened all files in event folder, I've searched in all files "posting" and "quote".. But I did not find anything.

It seems to me that all the functions are aimed at the visualization of the contents. You help me find what I'm looking for..?
This is the Github of the extension:

To receive extension support please visit our Extensions Database and post in the specific extension's designated support area. The link to the support area for each released extension is also available in the first post of each released extension listed in the [3.2.x] Extension Database Releases forum. For extensions still in development (not recommended for a live board) support is in that extensions's topic in the Extensions in Development forum.

You shouldn’t be using extensions directly from github but, as you have, you can contact the author there or send him a PM.

If you can’t find anything you can make an extension request. There’s nothing wrong with you persuing the extension you have if that’s what you want but you need to speak to the author, we can’t help you with it here.

I know I am probably 'flogging a dead horse' but you do not 'need' to make URS's SEO 'friendly. In fact you my do more harm than good.
Google wrote:Q: Does that mean I should avoid rewriting dynamic URLs at all?

A: That's our recommendation, unless your rewrites are limited to removing unnecessary parameters, or you are very diligent in removing all parameters that could cause problems. If you transform your dynamic URL to make it look static you should be aware that we might not be able to interpret the information correctly in all cases. If you want to serve a static equivalent of your site, you might want to consider transforming the underlying content by serving a replacement which is truly static. One example would be to generate files for all the paths and make them accessible somewhere on your site. However, if you're using URL rewriting (rather than making a copy of the content) to produce static-looking URLs from a dynamic site, you could be doing harm rather than good. Feel free to serve us your standard dynamic URL and we will automatically find the parameters which are unnecessary.

you certainly have every right to not agree and to do whatever you wish with your board. however, that does not change the facts.
