how to moderte posts by a member

Post by TheButcher2 » Tue Jun 12, 2018 9:51 pm

I have a member who is in the registered user group. I don't know why but he posts some antagonistic stuff every now and again, I d not want to ban him, but want his posts to not show up in real time when he goes on one of his rants until I check to see he is not just stirring shit. How do you moderate such a member?

You can edit each of his post's manually by clicking on the pencil icon to the right in his post's. Absent of that you'd have to set him up in his own group where all his post's are held in moderation Que. That's what I know. Perhaps there's another method, and if so someone will come along and chime in.

Thanks for the ideas guys, what is the easiest way to move a user back to "newly registered" group so their posts are help in moderation. Instead of creating a whole new user group for one bad apple is that an option and how?

That's the way to go - more bad apples might appear, simply move them to the new group.

The problem is if you do it via user permissions you could end up with dozens of users with all sorts of odd permissions. If you create a group with the permissions you want all you have to do is drop the offender in to the group. Note, they MUST stay part of the registered user group at all times but can be members of multiple groups. Once he’s served his time simply remove him from the new group and he’s back to scratch.
