Try to change mysql to mysqli in config.php.

The board is not working anymore because of the steps taken to get this update..

I followed every step on this link on Upgrading from 3.0 to 3.2 provided by phpBB: https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... /upgrade3/

I'm up to step 12.3 but when i press update it says "The installer detected a timeout
The installer has detected a timeout, you may try to refresh the page, which may lead to data corruption. We suggest that you either increase your timeout settings or try to use the CLI."

I have changed the code as suggested on your reply. The "mysqli" in config.php was already this and not mysql so no need to change.

Any suggestions? I have no board because of this.

Any idea what has gone wrong?

I have followed every step provided in the phpbb link for the update and that has resulted in the board not working. Really want to get this update sorted and the board working again. Any suggestions? A search of my problem on this support board shows other users having similar problems when getting to the update page but it seems each have had different solutions.

Any help would be really appreciated.

The url you entered in SRT is not pointing to your board, that root is empty.

I took extra care and read each step more than twice to get it right. I'm very sceptical that re-doing it would make it work because of this but i will try if there is no other suggestions.

either way, right now there is no board there at all. if you click here: http://www.veneeringforum.com/index.php you will get a 404 file not found message. you also get a not found message for any of the other phpbb files that should be there if you installed it where you said.

I actually have not got a clue what to do from here. I'm not a pro at this but spent vast amounts of time getting to know my way around phpbb and had a working board.

So I have no board, step 9 tells me to effectively delete the board (apart from a few files) and upload the updated ones which I did. Would the old files effect the new ones?

This is sounding fatal

as long as you did step 1 there is nothing fatal. that means if you made backups of the database/files then there is nothing you can do that you can not recover from in a short time .

anyway, now we are getting a mysql error saying that the config table does not exist.

It is hard to say how to help you exactly because you have apparently not followed the instructions properly.

show us a screenshot of your ftp showing where you have uploaded the phpbb files on the server.

also, post the contents of your config.php file leaving out the username and password.

I had exactly the same problem with the timeout.

Inaccurate information deleted

But my faith in phpbb has been severely dented and I dread the next 'update' so much Ill probably leave it until I have to change, then Ill look elsewhere.
