admin access lost

Post by jessebee » Tue Jun 26, 2018 10:31 pm

Hello!

I am a moderator on a board where the admin/founder has lost his login to update the board. Is there anyone he may contact to get his information back? Currently we are on an old version of the board, and it seems to be frozen at the moment. Much appreciated, I hope this is question is in the right place. :)

phpbb 3.0 reached EOL ( end of life ) over a year ago. phpbb 3.1 is EOL in about a week.

you will need to check with your host to see if they have upgraded their php version to something that your out of date phpbb can't work with.

either way, you will most likely need to upgrade to 3.2 to solve your problems.

no MODs will work in 3.2 , it now uses extensions instead of MODs.
no 3.0 styles will work with 3.2
you will need to find a new 3.2 style that is similar and redo all your custom changes when you upgrade to 3.2

Support for 3.0.x ended well over a year ago and 3.1 is about to go the same way so you should consider upgrading to the latest version. If you search the 3.0.x support archive you'll find a SQL query to create a new admin account, for instance, which you can get in with.

Thanks everyone! The main issue is only two people had founder status, and one of them left the company, and the other had lost his password to access everything. I had asked them to upgrade as each new version was released but it was lost in the shuffle. Once he has his access back I'm sure upgrading won't be a problem, we've had various versions since 2002, it's just the access that is the issue. He's working with the tech Sept to try a fix so I will mention the solutions here and hope for the best.

The Admin should be able to use the reset password via email link on login.
