Because a lot of time people who use the contact form are having trouble solving the registration captcha so giving it to them again to fill out the form wouldn't hep them get through that either.

There are at least 2 or 3 alternative ways to obscure that link from bots though in the extensions database.

Why not allow forum administrator to enable or disable captcha for this page? :D
Sound not enough sense protect registration form from spam but not contact form. I understand your point of view so i think board administrator should be able to decide if enable captcha protection also for contact form or not. Can this be considered in future?

You're free to suggest it as an idea or on the area51 site.

So if you enable it and someone can't register because they can't work out the captcha, how are they supposed to contact you?

If an user has issue on solve the captcha maybe the issue is not in the forum but in user system.
The issue should not only be present in the specific forum but in all the Internet.

People can't solve it for all sorts of reasons. Browser software, language, plain and simple misunderstanding of what they have to do. etc etc.

The extensions out there already do a good job of spam protecting the contact page. Whether they will be implemented as standard I don't know.

Thanks for the answer. I see some extension but is not what i am looking for: i do not want an extension who can decide what post or not should be posted, i prefer a captcha to protect the contact form. Also I think less extensions you have more secure you are. Extensions can end his life with time, create issue, etc. In any case i registered on the area 51 and posted the suggestions. Sorry I cannot post the link here as my post are on moderation queue.

I am always on the idea of do not create damage with my suggestions so i suggested to give this as optional -> let the admin decide :)

There are 2 extensions that will solve your problem.

Obscure Contact Us (my extension that adds a mailto link which is as near as bot proof as anything (I have had zero bot mails in 5+ years)

Contact Admin (an extension by RMcGirr83)

Neither of the extensions 'decide' what should or should not be posted, you decide.

... and if you no longer want to use the extension, disable and delete its data and you are back to exactly how your forum was before you added them

Thanks for this info.
I do not want see overridden the default admin contact form as if something will be broken with time, this time is really the situation where user will be not able to contact an admin.

I do not like show email address. Human can always read the email address.

For now i will ban IP that are sending spam by the contact form, in the future I hope something of official and integrated can be considered as an option way for admin.

Thanks for the help and for all suggestions.

You've been told two or three times that you need an extension, that's your answer. Have search of the extensions db and if you don't find anything to suit your purpose you can make an extension request. Also. as has been said, you can post an RFC in Area51 or an idea here.

Sorry, i never understand this intervention, i just expressed myself and as told I updated in what I do.
I am not pretending more help or something of similar so if you understood that is wrong.

Again thanks for the support, I will follow the post on the Area51.
