Ah, in which case is there a way to change all retained posts to another default username? (such that users can relax about being identified, my forum is about addiction)

unless someone is using their real name when registering why would anyone worry about being identified when posting on a bulletin board?

if your board is about sensitive issues then nobody should use a real name when registering etc.

so, the fact that their username stays on a post should not make them any more likely to be identified than if the post says anonymous.
