Board Contact Email

Post by DaveyTut » Mon Aug 06, 2018 6:25 pm

Hello,

I've just noticed that when someone clicks on the contact link at the bottom (registered or not), and they try to send me an email as the administrator, that it is not sending an email to me. I am the administrator or should I say, I have admin privileges. Could it be that it will send the email to the one who has the "role" as administrator? Where do I go to confirm that I have the "role" as site admin, so I can get those messages?

Thank you,
DaveyTut

ACP => General=> email settings =>
Contact email address:
This address will be used whenever a specific contact point is needed, e.g. spam, error output, etc. It will always be used as the From and Reply-To address in emails.

janus_zonstraal,

Thank you for the reply:

When someone clicks on "Contact Us" at the bottom of any page or forum, they are taken to a email compose page titled:

"Contact a Board Administrator"

If I am the borard administrator, shouldn't I get that email?

ACP => General=> email settings =>
this is enabled with my email address listed on that admin page.

When I select "send a test email", I get none.

Please fill out the Support Request Template and post it back here to enable us to assist you better. Also, what is "Enable board-wide emails" set to? It should be "Enabled".

Registration e-mails are working (I was just able to register), so it doesn't appear to be e-mail server related. I do keep getting logged out like after a minute, but that's another issue.

kinerity,

I recognize your username. Did you get a welcome message from me?
I just had someone try and register who posted three times (awaiting approval) with a link pasted in the body of each, all links were different.
It looked like a virus or hack attempt so I disapproved and removed the user.
Before doing so, I sent a message to the very strange looking gmail account asking about those links.

Thank you for your help

I did get the registration e-mail, so at least the e-mail server is working.

It was probably spam, you need to address your captcha. The wobbly letter type captchas were beaten years ago. I suggest you use the built in Q&A with a none searchable (as in Google) Q&A, see Knowledge Base - How to configure Q&A CAPTCHA..
