"Tables already exist" error - please help

Hi guys,

happy to be here, i love phpbb!

On my first install, everything went nice, it was installed (this was late evening).
Next day, i simply forgot the pasword (yes, stress maybe lol) and simply deleted all the files from the server and reinstalled from scratch.

Now the problem is when i try to do the settings (db username, db user, localhost...) when i click "submit" i get this:
"Tables with the specified prefix already exist, please choose an alternative."

please translate what do i have to do?

The forum is empty now, no data lost.

Deleting the files from the server does not remove the database - you will also need to do that from your hosting control panel

You didn't need to reinstall, but now that you have started down that path, I would use phpMyAdmin to TRUNCATE the database and then do your install. Or, you can just choose a different table prefix, say phpbb3_. No need to delete the database as you will just have to create another one.

Took the most simple way, reinstalled under another name phpbb5 ha ha and worked smoothly.
