Extension on different styles

Do only certain extensions work on certain styles?

no, most all extensions with work on most all styles.

most styles are based on prosilver. most all extensions have to work on prosilver.

All validated extensions will work on all validated prosilver based styles - beyond that it could be hit and miss. Having said that it may be possible to make an extension work on any style, but it could require some effort.
