Are they being delivered to both the intended recipient and some other user or just some other user?

To the intended (always) and sometimes to another random user. It's weird. Maybe we have something corrupted after conversion.

I would hazard a guess that it is something to do with Cloudflare

That's probably a good guess.

There is more on that theory here: https://www.phpbbservices.com/tag/cloud ... 35SO-hKhaQ

phpBB has the ability to send the same message to multiple users. Are you sure someone is not sending the message to multiple users? This can be confusing unless they used the BCC option because a PM with multiple users essentially becomes a three or more person PM conversation. The recipient may be unaware of this and unless they remove the multiple recipients replies will go to all of them. e.g person A initiates a PM with recipients B and C. Recipient B replies and it will go to person A and C. If this is the case the multiple recipients should be listed in the outgoing message and incoming message.

Most regular members do not need to be sending multi recipient PM's so you can eliminate it with permissions.

ACP >> permissions tab >> User roles link under Permissions roles

Under each role check what the permissions are for sending multiple PM's.

ACP >> permissions tab >> Group Permissions under Global Permissions

Check what role each group has assigned

Cloudflare on default settings only caches static non html content. CSS, Javascript, images like topic icons etc. They don't even cache images served through file.php.

Are you sure someone is not sending the message to multiple users? Uhm pretty sure. I have a lot of cases with the same issue. But I'll pay attention to this point.

Thanks for clarifying and I'm checking the permissions. I'll disabled the option to send PMs to multiple users/groups.

Of course thanks david63 and cprgolds too.

I know from experience that can confuse users especially with the reply. It may or may not be the problem, as I posted previously it should be marked on the PM.

I should of mentioned this previously, if you are using Cloudlfare make sure you have installed mod_cloudflare on the server.

https://www.cloudflare.com/technical-re ... cloudflare

If you cannot install it you can ask your host, as last resort there is an extension for it in phpBB extension database.

First I changed the permissions. Now I will do that about CF in our VPS.

Thanks about that too.

The issue with Cloudflare is all of the IP's accessing your server are Cloudflare IP's. Whether it's server log files or web applications like phpBB the IP is a Cloudflare IP. Check the IP's of your forum visitors, they should be Cloudflare IP's

If you have VPS you can install mod_cloudflare from the link I posted above. How you do that depends on the system, if it's manged VPS have the host install it if you are unsure how to proceed.

Cloudflare sends a custom header with the real IP of the visitor, with mod_cloudflare installed Apache knows the real IP to pass onto server/web applications.

Yes, you're totally right. Now shows real user's IP. Of course I changed permissions too and now seems to be working fine.

Thanks for your help.
