Fatal Error in updating full 3.2.3 package after trying auto update

Post by sbweston » Mon Sep 24, 2018 9:51 pm

Hi,

After being unsuccessful using the Automatic update to go from 3.2.1 to 3.2.3 (it would not go past the update file section after several tries and updating the files from the archive folder to the host), I tried to install the full 3.2.3 package following the instructions on the support page. This is the error I received and I do not know how to resolve it.

Fatal error: Composer dependencies have not been set up yet, run 'php ../composer.phar install' from the phpBB directory to do so. in /home/nemast5/public_html/phpBB3/includes/startup.php on line 81

I'd appreciate any support someone could provide! Thank you in advance.

It sounds like you're missing the vendor folder or parts of the vendor folder. Make sure you fully uploaded all files.

The instructions that I downloaded from the support page stated explicitly to delete the /vendor and /cache folders from the board's root folder on the host, which is what I did. (step 7 from "Updating 3.2.x)

So I uploaded the vendor file and the process has moved to the update files portion, which seems to repeat itself. How many archive folders should I anticipate having to download and then upload the folders to the host? This is what happened when I tried to do the automatic update and after the third archive folder, I decided to do the full package. Now it is back to this same process, where each time I proceed there are more files to be uploaded back to the host.......please help. Thanks.

Knowledge Base - Updating 3.2.x

That's step 6: Using FTP, delete the /vendor and /cache folders from the board's root folder on the host.

Step 7 says: Via FTP or SSH upload the remaining files and folders (that is, the remaining CONTENTS of the phpBB3 folder) to the root folder of your board installation . . .

Basically you're removing the /vendor and /cache folders on the server and replacing them with the fresh ones in the update package.

ok, have you made the backups of all the files before you started? if so,

delete everything from the folder named store except for the index and htaccess files.

now upload your folder named install again and try the update again.
