ATOM feeds - what are they for?

Post by Lord Phobos » Fri Sep 28, 2018 1:30 am

Hi

I googled and searched, but found only very old (and not updated) phpbb guides on that topic.

I would like to enable ATOM feeds on my board.
My objective: have a Facebook page grab automatically on my board's feeds and post them.
I really don't know how to achieve that goal, I only know that I've done that with an old 2.1 phpbb board a very long time ago.

The first problems is that I've set to "Yes" all of the settings on the "Feeds" section of the General tab in ACP.

And nothing shows up.
What should I do?
How can I see the links to my feed, and how can I use them?

There is someone of you generous enough to share with me his knowledge, if he knows how to import them in a Facebook page?

Thanks!

My board is at https//www.anonimagiocatori.it

Depending on the browser you are using, you may or may not see the Atom feed in the URL address bar or anywhere else on your forum. This is true for Chrome which needs an extension to get that functionality. And it looks like it's the same for Firefox which will need an add-on. Also note, depending on your theme, you may not have RSS feeds show up per subforum. But I think the main Atom feed shown in the URL address bar of your browser will list them.

Once you get your browser in order, check out this site: https://dlvrit.com/

This may also help but be aware it's from the 3.1 KB Knowledge Base - FAQ: phpBB ATOM feeds

There are no ‘threads’ in phpBB, they are topics.

Read that, but it seems a bit outdated.

However, I followed its instrucions, my feed are active, but various readers for chrome find them but cannot open them...

And if I point to https://www.anonimagiocatori.it/feed.php I get a 404 error...

Hmm...

The address has changed since 3.0.x. It's now at https://www.anonimagiocatori.it/app.php/feed

Oh, I see, thanks a lot.
But having activated url rewrite on my board, trackers won't search for the feed there, but on the url without the "app.php" part.
What should I put in .htaccess file?

Can someone help me with that?

I looked on my server error log, and I got this:

I subscribed to an app for sending feeds to my mobile phone, I guess these errors are generated by the app trying to see feed but failing because of mod rewrite...
