Upgrading to current version

Post by TimAllman » Thu Oct 11, 2018 8:34 pm

I am a member of a forum (honda305.com) which uses an old version of this software. Perhaps someone who knows this software better than I do will recognise the version. It works well but the owner seems to have abandoned it so I am thinking of setting up a new one. I have two questions.

1. Are the old configuration and database files easily transferable from the old version to the new one?

2. It may not be possible to get the cooperation of the owner so is there any reasonable way of extracting the information through the front end so that the database can be recreated?

Thanks in advance.

Yes that's ancient. It's phpBB2 which we stopped supporting 10 years ago.

1 - If you can get the database, yes.
2 - No

The database is everything. The users, the posts, the forums, the lot. Without it you have nothing. You'll have to hope you can get hold of the owner.
