And the emails take a long time to arrive you mean? Or the notifications at the top right?
Be helpful if you explained a bit more what you're seeing.

More likely to be your hosts mail server taking its time. When the action is triggered, phpBB gives the email to your hosts mail server so that bit happens straight away.

And remember that it is a false assumption that mail is instant - it can take up to 72 hours before it is considered to be a fail.
