Post by kelderkold » Sun Nov 18, 2018 2:21 pm

Hi
I have a lot of problems, I can't update my phpbb 3.0.11, last time i tried everything disappear and I had to reinstall my backup.
my host updated to php 7.0 so now its time.
I would like to delete everything, install a new phpbb 3.2.xx latest version and import all my old members, topics and post, is that possible?

You will have to update your board, that is the only way to carry over members, topics and posts. The following describes the process, but some members have reported that going from 3.0.x to 3.1.x first and then 3.2.x works better. As long as you have backups there will not be a problem with loosing any data.

Notes:
  • Your server must be running at least PHP 5.4.7 or higher.
  • phpBB 3.2 is not compatible with 3.0 and most of the previous files will need to be removed prior to upgrading.
  • Styles and MODs from 3.0 cannot be installed on phpBB 3.2. To upgrade, perform the following steps:
  1. Make a back-up of the original files and database
  2. Deactivate all styles except for prosilver
  3. Remove all MOD-related changes from the database. The Support Toolkit's Database Cleaner can be used for this.
  4. Ensure that the activated spambot countermeasure is one of the standard phpBB plugins (Simple image, GD image, GD 3D image, Q&A, reCaptacha).
  5. Set British English as the only language pack and delete all other language pack directories from your server
  6. Delete all of your phpBB 3.0.x files EXCEPT for the following:
    • The config.php file
    • The /images/ directory
    • The /files/ directory
    • The /store/ directory
  7. Upload the contents of the phpBB3 directory from the uncompressed 3.2.x Full Package (EXCEPT for config.php) into your forum's directory (Note: you don't want to overwrite your original config.php file)
  8. Browse to www.example.com/install/
  9. Click the Update tab
  10. Click the Update button
  11. Select "Update database only" and click Submit
  12. Wait for the progress bar to reach 100% and for a message indicating that the update has completed
  13. Delete or rename the /install/ directory

Update database gives a lot of sql errors :?

You are missing some files. The first line of the error says it can not find Unable to find template "message_body.html"

Upload all of the style files again and then empty the cache directory on your server (except .htaccess and index.htm)

Moving to support

You MUST delete you old files as stated in the instructions. Then you MUST upload all of the new files.
  • Delete all of your phpBB 3.0.x files EXCEPT for the following:
    • The config.php file
    • The /images/ directory
    • The /files/ directory
    • The /store/ directory
  • Upload the contents of the phpBB3 directory from the uncompressed 3.2.x Full Package (EXCEPT for config.php) into your forum's directory (Note: you don't want to overwrite your original config.php file)
ANY files and folders (other than those listed above) WILL NOT WORK with phpBB 3.2.x

I did delete ALL files not listed

When i check my backup I can see that I do not have any
/styles/all/
only
/styles/prosilver/
But i did try now to copy the file "message_body.html" from style/prosilver/template/ to /styles/all/template/

then it asked for a file /styles/all/template/bbcode.html and i did copy that too.

and this give me a new result of errors:
Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method bbcode::bbcode() in /customers/9/4/9/magracingforum.com/httpd.www/includes/functions_content.php:630 Stack trace: #0 /customers/9/4/9/magracingforum.com/httpd.www/includes/functions_display.php(614): generate_text_for_display('.\n[url=http:...', '3ssdml7x', 'EA==', '7') #1 /customers/9/4/9/magracingforum.com/httpd.www/indexX.php(76): display_forums(Array, '1') #2 {main} thrown in /customers/9/4/9/magracingforum.com/httpd.www/includes/functions_content.php on line 630

I suggest that you download and unzip a fresh set of files on your computer, then follow the above instructions again. It appears some files are getting corrupted somewhere along the line.

Also if you are connected wirelessly it might help to connect directly to your router with a cable to transfer the files.

No matter how many versions of phpbb 3.2.4 I am downloading there are no files in the
\phpBB3\styles\all\template
except
feed.xml.twig
So the problem is properly when i update the database.
I must go to work now, so will continue tomorrow.

That is correct.

From your latest error message there are still files missing/corrupted.

Does ajax.js exist in /styles/prosilver/template ?

make sure you are unzipping the file on your computer and not trying to do it on the server.

Yes and now I copied all prosilver files into /styles/all/template/
and now I can see my fora but without any style

if I try install/update/update database i still get a lot of errors:
