Turn On "Email Notification" For PM As Default

Post by mouthpiece » Mon Dec 03, 2018 7:41 pm

Hello people,
I am trying to set Notify Me by Email "On" as default for all board members.

I did this in functions_user.php

Code: Select all

  'user_notify'        => 1,

and ran this query

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_notify = 1 WHERE user_type <> 2;
I still couldn't get it to work.

Please how can I achieve this

By "didn't work" do you mean that it did not send an email?

Was the user logged on at the time that the PM was sent ?

Did you purge the cache after making the changes?

Yes, didnt send email.
Also tried with the user logged in - Email notification still didnt
Yes, I purged the cache

I manually check ☑ email notification for PM to admin and it sends email notifications either logged in OR not.

I want this as default for all users too

Make a copy of your /functions/user.php, rename it to user.txt and attach it here.

Do you mean includes/functions_user.php because I can't see any folder named functions

That extension will only work for new users and as I understand it the OP wants this setting for all existing users (which, in my opinion, is not something that should be done)

But how are you going to stop them changing it?

I am not interested in stopping them from changing it, they can do that if they don't like it.

That's not the aim :?
