having trouble with installion

i'm having trouble with installion when I try to download phpbb it does not show a icon on my computer so then I tried to extrace the files and that don't even work what wrong I need help

It may just mean you don't have anything on your computer to extract the zip file.

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?
Also make sure you have downloaded the whole file. It says on the d/l page how big it should be.

As a suggestion always download files to your desktop or a folder on your desktop so you can find them.

Surely you know how to donwload and open a zipfile by now? And MS Windows recognises a zipfile immediately, double clicking automatically opens them.

With all due respect, but if (a year later) a zipfile is a problem, then what about a host, a database engine and database, php version, etc..?

phpBB is not a windows program you can install on your local computer.
It is a internet application for running a bulletin board on a server.
