Unable to Transfer to New Host

Hi

I'll say from the outset I'm basically a phpbb newbie - I installed the forum as a favour to some friends and have been hosting them, I've been entirely hands off, so I'm not overly familiar with how the admin/etc works.

I'm moving to a new host, and these are the steps I took:
* Went into Maintenance
* Downloaded a Backup
* Installed phpbb on the new server
* Uploaded backup to /store
* Went into new forum's Maintenance and hit Restore
* It tells me it was successful, but there's no posts that I can see?

[ETA - The old forum seems to be 3.1.1; is this an issue? Does it need to be up to do before I can transfer it the easy way?]

Am I missing out on some basic step? Do I need to do anything with the database? Heeeeelp, please.

Transferring Your Board to a New Host or Domain is the recommended way. If that doesn't help please fill out the Support Request Template and post it back here to enable us to assist you better.
