On the main page of the forum, there is the main index page that shows the forum name, the number of topics in that forum and the number of posts in that forum. If you drill down into one of those forums, it adds another column called "views". Is there a way to add "views" to the main index page next to "posts"? If so, how?
You would have to define precisely what a "view" is. In the case of topics, it implies clicking on the topic, clicking on the "latest post" icon, or going directly to a topic/post (whether using search or another link is of no importance), perhaps (not sure about that) moving to the next page in a topic also counts as a view).
If you add "views" to the index page, the number of view should correspond to the number of times each forum was viewed and you'ld have to define the method of calculation. It could simply be the total count of all the topic views (in that forum). That sounds like the most logical way, but there are also subforums complicating the matter, and topics can be moved to another forum raising the question whether the count of those past topic views should be remain in the old forum, or added to the new destination forum.
The above was just some quick exploration of some possibilities and frankly ... what's the use of it? (except for having another item on the page - item which, if I may say so, doesn't add any value).
