massively rename many posts of a discussion

Post by Harrison76 »

Bye, everybody,
I often have to rename a discussion, but when it contains so many posts it takes a long time to rename them all: there is a way to rename them in bulk, so that by editing the first one you change all the others but putting "re:" in front?
Thank you

You mean you want to change the Subject line in all of the Posts in a Topic?

exactly! except that when you have topics of 15 pages, or 150 messages, it becomes a very long operation...

You can check this extension: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... m_replies/
It will not rename the reply titles, but suppress them.

Change 1 post-title (by putting "re:" in front ... BTW "re: " may look nicer (space after the ":").
Then look up that post in phpMyAdmin to see how it was changed, take note of the changes, and then apply that change to selected posts.
If you're not fluent enough with SQL you could use an ODBC connector to do that in OpenOffice, LibreOffice (or even Access).
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.
