So, we're getting close but we're not there yet.

I had this error while updating:

And the ACP tells me the update is not yet complete:

I assume you tried to import the original database? AFAIK you can't import a database 3.0.9 to 3.2.5 directly without cleaning, especially the old mod's will give you a problem. The errormessage states there is a problem with a MOD, that is why I think you didn't use STK the right way for cleaning. After using STK use the above described method to convert/update.

Agreed with FlaSerIC that we don't want to lose sight of the 3.0.9 to 3.2.5 upgrade that is occurring here. There have been so many issues and questions in just trying to just get the database imported, now that it's importing, the database-related phpBB 3.0.x upgrade steps are still needed. Meaning step 5 in the https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... /upgrade3/ instructions. (Note you can also do step 4 using the STK, since you don't actually have a running 3.0.x board's ACP to do this in, and only have the database.)

You mentioned earlier in this thread that you had been able to run the STK, so I presume this actually is possible on your current new host. Same as FlaSerIC identified, you presumably just "un-did" this earlier cleanup by re-importing as you indicated in viewtopic.php?f=556&t=2505376&start=30#p15217336. And so the STK process needs to be run again -- after importing the database, but before running the phpBB 3.2.5 /install/ database update -- if you didn't do that already.

Since you ran STK before, maybe this additional info is a non-issue, but for what it's worth: Note this STK for phpBB 3.0.x is designed to run in the environment that phpBB 3.0.x was designed to run in. If you're getting issues or errors when trying to run the STK itself, it can be because your server is running on PHP 7.x, which is newer than what phpBB 3.0.x supported. If your host allows you to temporarily downgrade the PHP version to 5.6.x, that's what we had to do in order to perform STK steps against the restored database. Before then reverting to PHP 7.2.x and running the phpBB 3.2.x install/upgrade. For entirely unrelated reasons, you don't want PHP 7.3.x, because not even phpBB 3.2.5 supports that yet.

I was under the impression that I had to run the stk on the old database, meaning on the old forum, to which I have no access so I assumed this was simply not possible. The guide seemed to suggest that but I'm understanding now that I have to do this on the new forum? So, create a new forum, import the backup from the old forum, then use stk and then upgrade?

So, I'm getting this:

Code: Select all

Emergency Repair Kit

include(./../includes/db/db_tools.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory

Click here to reload the STK
Is that what you were referring to in the above quote?

Forget everything, let's start from the scratch. Max PHP 5.6.x here.

1 - create a new DB and fill it with the 3.0.9's backup
2 - copy all the files of a fresh 3.0.14 and the old config.php file which should be amended with the new DBname, DBpassword.
3 - run the install/database_update (now you are on 3.0.14)
4 - run the STK for 3.0.14 and clean up the updated DB
5 - upgrade to 3.2.5 following the right procedure which has been already posted somewhere in this topic.
6 - switch to a newer PHP version max 7.2.x.

End of the story. :)

So, instead of doing stk before updating, I need to update first, then run stk, then update again?

Can you clarify where I can find what version of PHP is in use and how I change it if that's needed?

Step 2 amended as follow sorry
2 - copy all the files of a fresh 3.0.14 and the old config.php file which should be amended with the new DBname, DBpassword.
Instructions are clear, you can't be wrong.

Ask the host if you have problems here, usually in your cPanel of sort.

That's the config.php that gets created when installing the new phpbb software at the very start?

What exactly do I need to change in the DBname and DBpassword? I'm not sure what you mean by 'new'? It just creates it randomly like this:

Code: Select all

$dbname = 'marcekn349_php66';
$dbuser = 'marcekn349_php66';
$dbpasswd = xxxxxxx
