### [SOLVED] Data Migration problem

Hi, so today I bought a new server for my website and I got stuck trying restoring the forum.
This is what I did:
I went to the mysql folder and copy the "forum" folder directly into the same directory but in my new server so from "/var/lib/mysql/forum" to "/var/lib/mysql/forum" but in another server. Set the folder and files to mysql:mysql with main folder 755 and files 660.
Then I did the same thing with the forum folder from "/var/www/vhosts/deltaforceitalia.eu/httpdocs/forum" to "/var/www/vhosts/deltaforceitalia.eu/httpdocs/forum" also set the files permissions but with no chown.
I set the dns so my domain is setted to the new IP and then I tried to connect to my forum at https://deltaforceitalia.eu/forum/index.php.
As you can see if you go there it says

Code: Select all

SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Table 'forum.phpbb_config_text' doesn't exist [1146]

SQL

SELECT * FROM phpbb_config_text WHERE config_name = 'reparser_resume'

What should I do now? I also tried to do a fresh install and then restore the database in the ACP but It doesn't work because it just load for an eternity of time.

### Re: Data Migration problem

as far as I know that is not how you transfer a database.

you need to go back to the old server, use phpmyadmin or whatever database management tool you have and export the old database to your computer as a sql file.

then, on the new server, you have to create a new blank database and import your sql file into it.
then you have to edit the config.php file in your phpbb files to reflect the new database name, usernmame/password etc.

then it should work.
