Forum theme not showing after update

Post by CEO713 » Fri Apr 19, 2019 7:47 pm

My forum was automatically updated from 3.2.4 to 3.2.5 and now the theme and style is not showing up.

Any idea on why and how to fix this?

Thanks!

how was it automatically updated? did your host update it? or what?
as far as I know there is not auto update for extensions.

those errors in the customize page say that it can not find the style.cfg for those two styles.
does it exist in those two style folders?

do those style folders exist on the server?
how about a link to your board so we can see what is going on.

When you say that your board was "automatically updated" would this have been done by your host as you have a "one click" install? If so then you need to speak with your hosts as that version is is not supported here due to the fact that the files are not the ones from here and they have been modified.

Well i assumed it was automatically since the history log for changes shows an anonymous user made the updates.
I personally didn't remove any files so I'm not sure why suddenly the style.cfg is "missing"

Here's the link to the board: http://texastakeover.com

apparently the board was originally installed using the host's one click install script. they often have an auto upgrade script that runs without your knowledge. this is very dangerous if you have added any MODs/ extensions /styles etc.

often we see where the auto upgrade just wipes everything out and starts over. that may be why it is not finding whatever styles those two are.
they are not standard phpbb styles available here.
the auto updater has apparently removed those two styles from the styles folder. now you get errors.

the first thing I would do is make a complete database backup using phpmyadmin or whatever your host provides for that.
be sure it is complete and safe on your computer before you start any actions below.

if you know where those styles came from and/or if you have a backup copy of them then reupload them to the styles folder and those errors will go away.

if not, then you will need to access the database directly to deactivate them and/or remove them.

you MUST be careful if you decide to edit the database as you can really mess it up if you don't know what you are doing.
