Is there a way to block a certain domain from entering the site?

Post by MOSHE1111 » Sun Apr 21, 2019 10:13 am

Unfortunately I have a lot of spam on my site
And everyone comes from the same domain.
Is there a way to block anyone registered from this domain from being blocked?

It's easy to stop spam with the Q&A.
What are you currently using?

I tried several times to insert the Q & A supplement.
It never happened to me.

I have not been able to activate this possibility of questions and answers.
Maybe I'm using another plugin than it should be.
What is the link to the add-on?

It's built in. It has been since 3.1.0

How to configure Q&A
  1. Administration Control Panel (ACP) > Spambot countermeasures> Installed plugins > click the dropdown box and select Q&A (it will be greyed out)
  2. Click the configure button then click add
  3. Add your question and answer (you need a Q&A for each language you have installed) click submit
  4. Click "back to previous page" then click "back"
  5. Select Q&A from the dropdown box (again)
  6. Click submit at the bottom of the page.
  7. Done.

My system is 3.2.5
And I do not have such software "Spambot countermeasures"
I have a "means against bots" ("אמצעי נגד בוטים" in Hebrew) and there are no questions and answers

You can block the domains used for registration by wildcard. Before I block a domain I'll first go to ACP >> Users & Groups tab >> prune users link on the left. For the email text input use *@example.com and hit submit. This will give you list of active accounts with that email address. You'll be able to determine if there is legitimate users using that domain. If it's all spam accounts I'll prune them at this point.

If you wish to proceed with banning the domain click the ban emails link on the left. Add *@example.com and click submit.

One thing I'm not sure about is how this would affect current user, if they already registered I do not know if that bans them but if you purged the accounts that won't make a difference,

Once you start down the domain banning road, you will be chasing forever. There are much better ways to stop spam, including the Q&A.
For REALLY good and VERY inexpensive hosting CLICK HERE

I can stop all your spam. I can upgrade or update your Board. PM or email me. (Paid support)
