Links do not convert after update to 3.2.6?

Post by Holger » Tue Apr 30, 2019 1:24 pm

Hi, after updating to 3.2.6 (automatic update package 3.2.5 to 3.2.6), when posting links the links are only formatted as text, no clickable link.
This also affects links posted BEFORE the update!
Am I doing anything wrong?

I also noticed that this affects extensions after the update: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... pic/203871

This is very strange!

Does anybody have an idea where I should look to solve this problem? :(

bbcodes are allowed and not deactivated in the posts.
This happens also to posts made prior to the upgrade!

For what it's worth, the first thing that would concern me out of that is the "automatic update" aspect. That update method can definitely be successful, but if I'm getting a result which seems different than everyone else's, I have to wonder whether some of the automatic process didn't go correctly. (Which has happened for a few people.)

After making a backup of your database and your file system in case you want to get back to where you are right now, what happens if you use the Updating 3.2.x approach of applying the Full Package download to your server instead of the automatic update. Are the results still exactly the same when creating a new message and testing the [url] functionality?

If the answer turns out to not be that simple, then we'll have to try and dig a little deeper on what could cause such a result.

Found the issue.
It was caused by the ext "External Link In New Window": https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... ew_window/
Now it works again, after disabling the ext.

Nice. Thanks for posting in the extension's support area for alerting the author to the problem. Just a guess, this extension might have been somehow unintentionally impacted by the update to /se9/text-formatter/, since that's what he's directly interacting with / modifying the behavior of. We'll see what they determine.

I thought this was the problem with mine, so I disabled the same Ext.... Cleared the cache... Yet new links still do not work.

Nothing new there. Seen a few extensions break when updating phpBB over the past couple of years. One should be able to update from one 3.2.x release to another without fear of extensions no longer working. There is a few in the [3.2.x] Extensions Database Releases that no longer work correctly too!

Hi,

Just stopped in to report that I am having the same issue on my board. I don't have the extension mentioned in this thread installed. This started after updating the board to v3.2.6 a few days ago.

The error is "Catchable fatal error: Argument 4 passed to s9e\TextFormatter\Plugins\MediaEmbed\Parser::filterTag() must be of the type array, none given in.../vendor/s9e/text-formatter/src/Plugins/MediaEmbed/Parser.php on line 28"

For those having this problem did you follow the update procedure as described in the KB article linked below,

Specifically step 6: Using FTP, delete the /vendor and /cache folders from the board's root folder on the host.

From the https://wiki.phpbb.com/Release_Highligh ... le_Changes there were changes to
Update dependencies to latest versions - Updated dependencies like Symfony and the TextFormatter to their latest versions
which are contained in the /vendor folder.

I did not. I just deleted both folders and uploaded fresh copies. Links are now working again. Thanks!

Same problem for me too.
After updating to 3.2.6, when posting links (internal as external too) they are formatted as text only and they aren't clickable at all. Also the bbcode [url] does not work anymore.
For me the issue seems to do not affect links posted before the update.

No problems here with said extension enabled.
