I have an update: I've logged in at work from Macbook and it's working! I am really confused now. The browser is Chrome, same as at my personal computer. So is it an extension in the browser? Ad block? I will try to look into it when I get back home.
On the other computer try the delete cookie link on the lower right of the forum. You can also look in the phpBB error log under the maintenance tab, if the other computer is getting bounced because of phpBB the reason may be listed there.

Thanks, I've done that at least 5 times every now and then after every installation, but it never helped. I've checked the error log and there is nothing there.

Yes, in the admin panel under Maintenance tab. :)

How is your phpBB installation "updating automatically"? phpBB doesn't do that, but some (not recommended) host installations do.

I have one last update: It's working perfectly fine now. I have no idea why. Maybe there was a certain time limit from the provider? I am honestly clueless, but glad at the same time that I can finally log in without any issues. Thank you for your assistance and your patience.

You should turn off the auto updater widget your host is providing. That is their thing not phpBB’s and they won’t support it when it goes south.
