The requested user does not exist

Post by nouveauvision » Tue May 28, 2019 9:44 pm

I migrated a VB 4.2.5 to a new phpBB 3.2.7 via the CMS2CMS Migration Demo.

The problem is with the migrated users. If they try to login (even after password reset), or if I try the ACP User Admin Submit, I get the error: "The requested user does not exist'.

I can use the ACP User Admin 'Find a member' and select it just fine, but when I hit 'submit' to look up the user, then I get the error.

I am able to go through the 'Manage Group > Members' to select users and manage their record that way.

I was able to edit the username of one migrated user, saved it, and then reverted/changed it back to the original username.

Then that user was able to login, and I was able to pull up him. But I cannot do that for 800 users.

Seems to be a key issue. The look ups that are working, seem to be using an user_id vs username.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank-you.

CMS2CMS Migration Demo
Have you seeked support there already? Doesn't sound related to phpBB at all.

Sounds like the cleaned username is wrong for all. Consider using the STK which has the option "clean usernames".

The problem is probably not my English but you do not want to understand correctly.

I would make a guess that it has something to do with the "CMS2CMS Migration Demo" and that your question should be asked at the place where you acquired this.

Having looked at their site then it is almost certain that the demo version has not done the job correctly - to migrate a board of your size I would guess that it would cost around $100

In 3.2 there is the CLI though, which in this case comes in handy with the command user:reclean.

Code: Select all

	/**
	 * Executes the command user:reclean
	 *
	 * Cleans user names that are unclean.
	 *
	 * @param InputInterface $input The input stream used to get the options
	 * @param OutputInterface $output The output stream, used to print messages
	 *
	 * @return int 0 if all is well, 1 if any errors occurred
	 */

Yes, I looked at that, but found: "phpBB 3.1.x & phpBB 3.2.x
The Support Toolkit is unsuitable for phpBB 3.1.x and 3.2.x, at this time, and cannot be successfully installed nor run"

Thanks to all who have replied. I tried to dump and reload. Also tried to reindex the keys.

I asked the vendor for support, but haven't got what I needed, yet.

I'm just trying to confirm that this isn't normal, and that I don't have to complete the "migration" to test a user that was migrated over.

I did see another thread about cleaning usernames, but don't think I found anything for 3.2.x.

that stk is not created or supported by phpbb.com it was created by a user and is not availble here at all.

so, yes, it does work as I have used it as well, and no, it is not an official phpbb.com tool.
